This special topical workshop will deal with state-of-the-art specialized polymer areas of “Next Generation Smart Materials.” The targeted audience will consist of a mixture of faculty and Ph.D. students from various universities as well as industrial/government participants. Attendees will arrive from different locations throughout the United States and overseas. The program itself will be a combination of 30-40 technical talks and sharing of ideas, with a poster session and multiple opportunities for networking.


  • December 15, 2019, Sun- Late afternoon for Registration, welcome remarks, programming, and reception

  • December 16, 2019, Mon – Full day of programming and evening poster session/networking reception

  • December 17, 2019, Tue – Full day of programming with extended afternoon break for site seeing/networking, and evening networking reception

  • December 18, 2019, Wed – Half day of programming

Topics will include

Sessions covering aspects of synthesis, characterization, simulation, and application of: stimuli responsive materials, self-healing materials, shape-memory materials, self-immolative polymers, self-assembly/supramolecular polymers, responsive nanostructured architectures, smart coatings, and related materials.
